At Cosi. A meandering day. Lehigh came home from staying with my mom. I went to see the Hellboy movie, and zipped uptown to check on the show at Monya’s. It looks good , but she’s out of town. I did get handed a copy of my fifth grade class photo, courtesy of my old friend, Lisa Rosen. We were both in that class, and years later , managed to find each other in the midst o the New York art world.
New York summer is in full swing. People out late, construction going on, bodies on display. Evening sun slanting up the crosstown street. A time I love in the city.
The movie? Nicely detailed fantasy that soft pedals any violence, emotional or otherwise. There seems to be a clear set up for a third, not that there is any real necessity for it (or at least I don’t feel it. I’m happy to spend time with those characters in that world, but that’s as far as it goes). It’s been a while since I saw something that actually stayed in my mind for more than an hour afterwards. It may be that my mind is still occupied with chewing over Flagg’s The Forked Tongue.
It feels like ages since I’ve written with no real aim.
