Supposedly good for the dunes…
I was ordered, er requested to post some more color pictures of Sylt, and since I am nothing if not obedient, I’ll be sprinkling them in in the coming days. I read somewhere that sheep were intoduced to the local ecology to help with erosion, something that is of big concern here. Idea seems to be that they trample local vegetation into a mat that holds sand in place better.
I tramped into town again yesterday for a bit of grocery and other shopping. The days seem to alternate here between clear and overcast. Yesterday was clear, making for a much more pleasant walk.
I’m missing people and also Lehigh (even though I find her hair all over just about every one of my possessions). But there is a lot that is cleansing about having a schedule with very few variables and chances for distraction. It doesn’t make for exciting narration in terms of posting about it, but it is comforting.
Just me, the grazing locals and the very friendly sheep.
Strike that: reverse it.
