Be careful what you wish for: my job which has suffered from a dearth of substantive discussion in the past (those of us on the staff, not between us and the students) has become the land of thought provoking meetings, where actual ideas are beginning to be brought forward and discussed. The net effect? Now I’m sitting in my office reeling from one possibility after another, and barely knowing how to describe my past week or how to prepare for everything else that is going on tonight, including the opening of a new exhibition space founded by a bunch of my ex-students and teaching a quick class for the TES Queer SIG. It’s amazing what my job can be like when we’re encouraged to move beyond our boundaries, instead of being beaten up with our constraints.
Phil and I used to call each other Chickenetta whenever we talked about that headless bird state, and as I contemplate the next 24 hours I hear his voice telling me: “Fly Chickenetta, Fly!”
